Are there any further costs involved?

No, once your course has been paid for there are no further costs involved. There is only a cost for any optional practical training undertaken.

Are there any time limits or deadline dates?

Unlike other Distance Education Colleges, we impose no time limits or pressures on you to complete your course material. Your course will not expire, and it will not become invalid until you have successfully completed it (with the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses - they have a 1 year time limit to complete). For all other courses, all that we ask, is that you inform the awarding College if you are intending to take a break from studying for a period of 6 months or more.

When will I receive my first lessons and welcome pack?

We know that you are eager to start your course. That is why we process your enrolment and dispatch your course materials to you within five working days (except for our 2 Body Piercing courses - they are delivered within 28 days).

Can I study if I reside outside of the United Kingdom?

Being a truly global Institute, we cater for students all over the World. We encourage and welcome International students to join and be part of a learning community. All of our courses are chosen because they are specifically designed to be delivered via Distance Education and Home Study. The question papers for your course can be completed from the comfort of your own home. There will be no need for you to attend any physical location like a test centre or our campus. So whatever your specialty and wherever your location, you are bound to find the perfect course through Orchids Institute of Training.

Can I study more than one course at a time?

Yes certainly. You will find that by studying this way, you create a steady flow of work for yourself. Many of our courses are very complementary to each other and work well together. Our students tend to start with one course, and very quickly find how easy it is to study from home and move on to another one.

Do I need any additional study material once I have enrolled?

No, all of our courses are complete (in the very rare case were a course text book is advised, this will be clearly displayed on our website). However we always encourage our students to conduct their own further reading.

Do I need any previous qualifications or experience before I can enrol on a course?

No, all of our courses are available to all students of all academic backgrounds. If you are concerned that you may have difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly course advisors who will be more than willing to discuss the options available to you.

Do I obtain a qualification once I have completed my course?

We are an organisation that is recognised industry wide and work with various College's/Organisation's who have their own Awarding Bodies and equally those whose courses are Nationally Accredited leading to Internationally Recognised Awards.

Therefore all the courses at National Distance Learning are recognised by a wide variety of groups - employers; professional associations; governing bodies; as well as National & International Licensing Authorities. Students receive an attractively presented Diploma or Certificate issued by the awarding College and in some cases are permitted to use the corresponding course letters after a their name (this is dependent on the awarding college, guild or centre and on the course studied).

The Awarding College is recognised by various Associations of which, students may be eligible to apply for membership, on the basis of required qualifications.

How difficult will my course be?

Obviously this is dependant upon the nature of the course you enrol on. As an estimate, the levels of learning for our courses range from a vocational standard all the way up to a certificate in higher education. All of our courses have been written and structured especially for home study, thus you will always find that the course material is written in a clear, concise and easy to understand format. How do I enrol?

To enrol simply click the 'Buy Now' button for your chosen course. We accept all major debit/credit cards. During this payment process, all you are required to do then - is tell us the name of the student who is going to be studying on that particular course, this is done by entering their name in the 'special instructions' message box.

How do I return my completed question paper to the College?

Depending on the course, your question papers may be returned in one of several ways: 1) You can post your question paper directly to your personal tutor at the awarding College in the envelope provided, 2) You can fax your question paper into the awarding College, 3) You can e-mail your question paper into the awarding College, and it will be forwarded on to your personal tutor.

How does Home Study via Distance Education work?

Once you have enrolled with us, your welcome package, instructions and first two lessons of learning material are sent out to you, as well as the name of your personal tutor at the awarding College. At the end of each lesson you will find a question paper on the work that you have covered. Only when you feel ready, do you complete and return this to your personal tutor at the awarding College. Your personal tutor then marks your paper and returns it to you with your feedback, you are also sent your next lesson and question paper (with the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses - these courses are sent out including all examination paper/s, which are then completed by the student and returned to Orchids Institute for marking).

How long will it take to complete the course?

Depending on the course you study, each lesson should take you between 3 - 6 hours of study. Please note: This is only an approximate figure and is dependant upon how much time you can dedicate to your studies and how well you grasp the learning concepts in the course material. At the end of each lesson there is a question paper that needs to be completed and returned to your tutor. You should allow at least 1 - 2 hours of study to complete each question paper (with the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses - these courses are sent out including all examination paper/s, which are then completed by the student and returned to Orchids Institute for marking).

How will I be tested throughout my course?

After each lesson there will be a question paper, which needs to be completed and submitted to your personal tutor for marking. This method of continual assessment ensures that your personal tutor can consistently monitor your progress and provide you with assistance throughout the duration of the course. All of the question papers for your course can be completed from the comfort of your own home. There will be no need for you to attend any physical location like a test centre, or our campus (with the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses - these courses are sent out including all examination paper/s, which are then completed by the student and returned to Orchids Institute for marking).

What about practical training?

Optional practical training is available for some of our courses. These practical training days are held at various locations throughout the United Kingdom. The goal of our practical training is to provide students with on-the-job practical experience. Practical training in this context provides the opportunity for our students to apply the theory-based knowledge they have experienced during their course to "real-life" working situations and environments. Our high standard of practical training offers students the necessary hands on experience to obtain additional qualifications.

What type of questions will I be asked to complete?

The types of questions you will be asked will vary from: multiple-choice questions, true or false, a single word answer, a single paragraph, to a short essay. When do the courses start?

Unlike traditional schools, colleges or universities there are no terms, semesters, or specified intake dates for our uniquely flexible distance education courses. Our system of continuous enrolment means that our students can enrol on any day and at any time of the year. This allows our students the freedom to plan their studies to fit in with their lifestyle or work commitments.

Will I receive professional help throughout the duration of my course?

All of our students have access to their own personal tutor, who specialises in their field of study (with the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses - these courses do not have their own personal tutor. Support & help is still available from the course provider, when the student needs it). It is your personal tutors role to ensure that you receive constructive feedback and to deal with any queries you may have. You are more than welcome to phone, fax or e-mail your personal tutor. Our students also have access to a dedicated and friendly team of administrators and course advisors who offer sound and professional guidance and advice, this ensures that a Orchids Institute of Training student never feels neglected and a Orchids Institute of Training student always SUCCEEDS! Where can I find additional study resources?

The Internet and local libraries normally provide a large source of information. We also encourage our students to contact their personal tutor for additional sources and reading lists.

Will I succeed if I have had an extended break from study?

With the exception of our 2 Body Piercing courses, when you enrol on your course, as well as receiving your course materials, you will also receive a study guide. This is an in-depth guide, which is aimed to support those students who are either new to study, or who are returning to study. It contains useful tips, guidance and advice on a variety of study methods that will assist you throughout your course. Furthermore we pride ourselves on being able to offer a high level of student support through the awarding College. You can always be assured that, your personal tutor, a member of the professional administration team or a friendly course advisor will always be available to deal with any queries you may have, even if its just for a chat.

Can I pay by instalments?

No sorry, all courses must be paid for, in full, upon ordering.

Terms & Conditions

General
The awarding Associated College's trading name is Registered in England and Wales. Terms applying to all of it's client agreements. In consideration of the agreements made herein, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, each party shall agree as follows:

1. Definitions
For the purposes of these terms:
Headings; Number; and Gender. The headings of sections and paragraphs are inserted for convenience only and shall not be deemed to constitute part of this agreement or to affect the construction thereof. The use in this agreement of singular, plural, masculine, feminine and neuter pronouns shall include the others as the context may require. ''We' and 'us' means the awarding Associated College who will provide the services to you. 'You' means the student receiving the services. 'Course' means a distance learning course or course designed and developed by us including all revisions and updates to such course as we may make from time to time. 'Course Materials' means the physical materials relating to any one course, together with all revisions and updates made by us from time to time, which may be in any format and which are required by the student to complete the course.

2. Responsibility for Course Materials
We affirm that the course materials will meet a satisfactory level of quality however; we do not affirm that they will be error free. You will be responsible for inspecting the course materials as soon as is reasonably possible following delivery. Furthermore, you will be responsible for informing us about any oversights as soon as possible. If you are intending to take leave from your course for a period of not less than 6 months you will be required to notify us in writing in order for us to honour our policy of 'no time limits'. If you fail to notify us, continuation of your course will be at our discretion. Due to the nature of the Foot Health Practitioner Course all students must complete the entire course within a period not greater than 2 years.

3. Transferring Course
We retain the sole discretion concerning whether a course may be transferred from you to a third party. Any such request must be made to us in writing at the address given above. We will treat all justifiable requests as compassionately as possible. We retain the sole discretion concerning whether you may transfer to another course offered by us. If we agree to allow you to transfer to another course, the total fees paid towards the discontinued course will be offset against the cost of the new course. However we will require that if the new course is more expensive than the discontinued course, the balance should be paid in full and there will be a standard £40 transfer fee.

4. Practical Training
The topics covered during the practical training will be as close to as possible as those stated on the website, however if we are obliged to make any minor changes to your practical training we reserve the right to do so. All outstanding course fees must be paid in full at least one month before your practical training is due to commence. Any materials offered free with the course e.g. the Free Practitioner's Toolkit and Free Patient diagnosis handbook will be given to you on the first day of your practical training.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability
We warrant that we will carry out the service to you with a reasonable level of care and skill. If you require any changes to these terms, please request such changes in writing to the address within. Any liability under any agreement between you and us shall be limited to any sums paid by you to us.

As far as permitted by law, we shall not be liable to any person for losses or damages that were not reasonably foreseeable and that were not caused by any breach on our part. We shall not be liable to any person for any direct or indirect loss or damage as a result from your course enrolment. Any liability that does arise will be limited to the course fee paid. We are not qualified to provide you with advice regarding health problems. If you require any such advice, we recommend you seek the opinion of your doctor or any other medical practitioner. Any holistic health care advice we do provide should be treated as congruent to and not an alternative for accustomed health care

6. Waiver
None of the conditions or provisions of this Agreement shall be held to have been waived by either party, except by an instrument in writing signed by a duly authorized officer or representative of each party. The waiver by either party of any right hereunder or the failure to enforce at any time any of the provisions of this Agreement, or any rights with respect thereto, shall not be deemed to be a waiver of any other rights hereunder or any breach or failure of performance of the other party.

7. Payment
All outstanding debts to us must be made before we will issue you with a certificate of completion. We reserve the right to refuse enrolment on any of the courses we offer.

8. Copyright
All copyright and other intellectual property rights relating to the course materials are either owned by or licensed to us. Copying, adaptation or any other use of all or any part of it without our express permission is strictly prohibited.

9. Other Terms
If at our discretion we afford you any relaxation of these terms, this shall in no way affect our rights under these terms and conditions. This Agreement shall be interpreted in all respects in accordance with the law of England and Wales. The parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts for the determination of any question or dispute arising in connection with this Agreement.

If the whole or any part of any clause(s) of this Agreement is or becomes invalid for any reason, that invalidity shall not affect the validity of any other provision.

You are required to notify us in writing at the address given above of any changes to your postal address.

10. Cancellation
According to the Distance Selling Regulations 2000, you have a cooling off period of seven working days from receipt of goods. You will be required to make such a request in writing to us at the address given within, and, at your cost return any received materials in a satisfactory and reasonable condition. N.B.
No refunds can be given on Body Piercing Courses Options 1 & 2, once ordered (this does not affect your statutory rights).

11. Data Protection
The awarding Associated College are registered with the Data Protection Office and are committed to protecting your privacy and keeping your personal information secure. We will not disclose your details to any person, unless you have given your consent or we are compelled to do so by law, or in response to a valid, legally compliant request by any law enforcement agency or government authority.

The purchaser/candidate/any individual reader, or any outside persons either related to or unrelated to the purchaser/candidate/any individual reader, or any outside persons for Orchids Home Study Diploma Training Course Options 1 & 2 /The Training Manual 'Learn To Be A Professional Body Piercer' - declare their status as being at least 16 years old or over and understand that The Training Manual 'Learn To Be A Professional Body Piercer' and the Professional Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Courses Options 1 & 2 contain sensitive images that may be distressing to some individuals, Option 2 Course also contains needles and other sharp/hazardous items. Orchids Body Piercing Clinic & Institute of Training® or any staff member, accepts no responsibility in any form whatsoever for harm or injuries of any kind caused by any of the contents contained in any of the Orchids Home Study Diploma Training Course Options, any additional goods ordered or as a result of any training received from these Home Study Diploma Training Courses - to the candidate/purchaser/any individual reader, or any outside persons/animals/possessions either related to or unrelated to the purchaser/candidate/any individual reader, or any outside persons. Due to the hazardous nature of various items in some of the Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Courses - the purchaser/candidate/any individual reader, or any outside persons either related to or unrelated to the purchaser/candidate/any individual reader, agree to and accept full responsibility for all the contents, materials and training received from any of the Professional Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Courses, once received.

On completion of an Orchids Professional Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Course, candidates are required to send any written work for marking back to Orchids Body Piercing Clinic & Institute of Training® by Registered Special Delivery Postal Service - for UK residents (or equivalent for all other areas including Europe & International), at their own expense. Orchids Body Piercing Clinic & Institute of Training® will not be held responsible or accept liability for the loss or damage of any of the course paperwork, materials or any of the other course contents that are returned for marking. All Professional Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Course/Training Manual fees/payments are non-refundable once a Professional Body Piercing Home Study Diploma Training Course/Training Manual has been ordered (this does not affect your statutory rights).
For goods or services ordered, Orchids Body Piercing Clinic & Institute of Training® reserve the right to amend the price, description, content or format of any product offered for sale, or otherwise - where ever it is listed (including on our website), without prior notice being given. Every effort will be made to meet the delivery times quoted, however, Orchids cannot be held responsible or accept liability or any loss arising from/for delays due to outside parties. All goods will remain the property of Orchids Body Piercing Clinic & Institute of Training until paid in full. Any requests for credit or replacements for shortages or damage in transit of goods must be notified to us within 3 days of receipt of goods, or non-delivery within 21 days - verbally and in writing.
